How Coaching Works

In order to get the best results, new supervisors and managers should expect:

  • We will meet for 4-6 months, 2-3 times a month, by phone or in person
  • You will come with an objective(s)
  • There will be homework between each session – writing in a journal, reading a book, applying something we talked about, reflecting, etc.
  • Potentially taking a skills inventory, a style survey and receiving feedback from others
  • You will prepare before each meeting – a reflection page – you must come prepared
  • Expect to get a lot of questions from me
  • At times you will be challenged
  • Sometimes you will be asked to step outside your comfort zone to see things in a different way

If you’re brand new to your role, or you’re dealing now with an issue, this is the most important thing for you to understand:

I am focused on practical application.  What can you do tomorrow to make this better?

By helping you be successful now, and positioning you to continue that success in the future, I will give you confidence and competence in your new role.

What I offer is dedicated time to work on your issues with someone who is vested in your success. Your boss and your HR department would like to help you become an effective supervisor, but they don’t always have the dedicated time to work specifically with leaders on their issues.  I do.  And I love it.

Once new supervisors learn some basic how-to’s and have the opportunity to ask questions and test the new behaviors, confidence soars.

Please contact me if you would like to accelerate the effectiveness of yourself or your supervisors/managers in their new leadership role.
