Assess Training Needs
Part of the Professional Trainer Certificate, University of Minnesota Continuing Education
Identifying training needs and deciding on solutions is a challenge virtually every training professional experiences. Using various assessment tools and best practices enables you to identify the knowledge and skills gaps of your training audiences. This course will focus on uncovering root causes of performance problems and linking needs analysis results to specific performance improvement solutions. You will learn not only what to ask, buthow to ask it.

Julie Berg, M.A. is a training and OD consultant and leadership coach, and has more than 20 years of experience across industries. At HealthPartners and Ceridian, she provided leadership assessment and development, team coaching, training design, and facilitation. She also managed a corporate training function.
The Leadership Essential Series is a six-module, highly interactive, professional development program focusing on the critical skills for developing front-line leaders.
The 2014 Spring Series begins on April 30, 2014 and again this year, Julie will be offering complimentary 1-1 post-training coaching sessions to participants.

Normandale Community College features in its cover story the Supervision Certificate Series and some of its recent participants in their Winter/Spring 2014 course catalog. Julie has been the facilitator of the 4-session series for the past four years. She also designed the content that is taught.
Gallup Organization research indicates that an employee joins an organization, but leaves a supervisor. When an individual contributor is promoted to supervisor, the transition can be a difficult one. This certificate will provide the new supervisor with the foundational skills needed for the job.

Dr. James Bohn is considered a ‘designated hitter’ for repairing broken teams. Dr. Bohn was the Global Director of Change Management for Johnson Controls prior to his retirement in 2013 after 33 years of service. Jim led significant change management projects including IT implementations, mergers and reorganizations. He has served in roles ranging from the shop floor, design, engineering, sales and service. “I consider my early operations experience to be invaluable for understanding change problems.” Jim has taught Organization Development at University of Wisconsin’s LUBAR School of Business, Business Ethics and Strategy at Concordia University and Leadership at Marquette University. |
The frontline manager is in an unenviable position when it comes to leading change.
